Your gift of time is precious, and is not taken lightly.
Your time as a volunteer will create laughter, love, and
self enrichment among those around you as well as a sense
of well being and accomplishment each and every time you
serve. Simply put, without you, S.T.A.R.S. cannot exist.
We have a host of opportunities and we do our best to
make sure everyone is in a placement best suited to his/her
needs as a volunteer. You might choose to lead a horse,
assist a challenged person beside a horse, or help with
grooming or tack on a weekly basis. Or you might be a
fabulous gardener or a whiz on the computer. Whatever
your skill or interest, S.T.A.R.S. can use your help.
We have several fun events throughout the year, such as
a Ride-A-Thon, Donkey Basketball Ttournament, , Barn Dance & BBQ, Horse Mini-Camps
and others. You might choose to participate in one or
more of these events. Whatever your placement, you can
be sure you will enjoy a rewarding experience.
The joy of watching and being part of a rider participating
in the weekly sessions is a reward you will never forget.
We will give you an overview of what is expected from
you as a volunteer. (NO HORSE KNOWLEDGE IS NECESSARY.)
We conduct Volunteer Training Sessions (call for dates
and times) that ensure both you and the riders will enjoy
a safe and positive experience. These volunteer training
sessions teach you all the basic horse knowledge you will
need to know to be an effective therapeutic riding volunteer.
An in-depth Volunteer Information Packet will be given
to each person attending he training session.
Therapeutic Riding Classes are held in five sessions
during the year and each session lasts for 6 or 8 weeks;
most classes are held in the evenings in one hour intervals
at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Some afternoon classes are
scheduled at intermittent times of the year. [Click
for current riding schedule] We have
an indoor and an outdoor arena on the premises; weather
dictates where classes will be held each week.

may have, and hope you choose S.T.A.R.S. as your gift
of time.
