My name is Abby. I am a 6 and 1/2 year old Shi-Tzu. I am very sociable and love people. I particularly like being petted. I have several toys I love to play with and enjoy car rides. I get along with my animal friends, both cats and dogs. I think it will be great to meet and help new people through K-9 STARS.

Echo is a 2 year old German Shepherd. She is a great sport and patiently allows costumes to be placed on her because she knows it helps to bring a smile to the faces of the people she is visiting. Her hobbies include running, chasing rabbits, swimming and playing fetch while keeping the toy away from her best friend Kassi. She likes every aspect of her therapy dog job and is ready whenever you give her the O.K

Ethny is a sweet outgoing dog, she loves to ride in the car and thinks she is supposed to go everywhere I go. She blocks the door everytime I try to leave without her. Ethny earned her CGC at 14 months and became a member of the K-9 stars at 18 months. When not at work you will find her chasing rabbits and squirrels and taking things away from her dog companion Molly. Ethny is always ready to work in a moments notice

Gilda is a 14 year old Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab/Springer Spaniel mix. When Gilda was 9 months old she was abandoned by her owners in 30 below weather when they moved away and left her to fend for herself. They gave up a real gem because she is the best dog ever in existence! (Except for maybe the other dogs on this page!) She has been a therapy dog for 8 years and her favorite therapy activities are being brushed and adored. Her nickname is “Princess” and she certainly thinks it is fitting. She also enjoys rolling over on her back and helping people to work on low reaching by making them scratch her tummy. When not working she is usually found napping and dreaming of great adventures.

Kassi is a 4 year old Border Collie/German Shepherd who loves to play fetch to help people get better at their balance and strength. She was adopted from the Siouxland Humane Society at 7 weeks old and went on her first nursing home visit within one hour of being adopted. She also enjoys running, doing agility courses and wrestling with her 9 month old “little sister.” She will nap with her feet sticking up in the air but is ready to work in a moments notice

Kate is a 3 year old golden retriever rescue who has just joined the K-9 Stars.  Her human mom has been a long time volunteer with Stars and is anxious to get Kate out and working.  Kate will also start her agility career in the next few months where she can use her speed and quickness. Kate really enjoys the Saturday morning training group.

Luke is approximately 7 yrs old. His father was our first family pet and Luke has proven to be just a special as his dad was. He loves to ride on the four wheeler, run through the pond, ride in the truck, and his favorite thing to do is snuggle and watch movies (and eat popcorn).

Missy is a three year old Newfoundland. She is very sweet, laid back, and a Canine Good Citizen. She knows when her training collar is on that it's time to work, but when she doesn't, it's time to play! She likes to play with her "girl", run around in the yard, and just sleep. Missy loves to hear stories from kids at the Read-to-Me programs at the libraries.

Maty is a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer whoenjoys walks, riding in a bike basket (yes, just like Toto), and riding in the golf cart. Maty is very social, loves all dogs (especially big dogs!), and all people. She always wants to be petted and talked to. Whenever possible Maty will find a sunny patch of carpet to catch a nap.

Meg is a 5 year old black Labrador Retriever. She started out as the runt puppy in a KS shelter, and now weighs over 90 pounds! Meg is has a lot of personality and can be quite a ham. This "class clown" loves attention from everyone and enjoys showing off her silly tricks. When she isn't working, Meg can be found on her owners' bed snuggled under the covers with her head on the pillow.

Molly was adopted from the humane society 6 years ago, we picked her because of her calm personality. Molly loves to ride in the car, chase rabbits and squirrels, lay in the sun and most of all be petted. When not working, you will find Molly sleeping or playing keep away from her dog companion Ethny.

Nike is a 7 year old Mix (Golden Retriever, Yellow Lab & Border Collie). He enjoys kayaking, camping and running. He is always up for a game of frisbee or retrieving any ball that you throw for him. Although Nike is very active, you will find that he is the most gentle, loving and soft dog around. He truly enjoys being a therapy dog.

Nugget is a 9 year old Golden Retriever. She is a very sweet and calm dog that loves swimming, running through the sprinkler and will fetch anything! She loves attention and if she isn't being pet, she will nudge you with a paw to get some attention. When not working, Nugget enjoys taking naps and hunting barnyard pigeons.

Hi! My name is Riley and I am a young 2 year old guy. I am very playful and am trying to concentrate on my manners....but it is hard to be calm. I love children but my favorite thing is to have someone pet me. Come play with me!

Rosie is a beagle with a split personality!  One moment, she is lovingly looking at you with those soft brown eyes, begging for a good petting, or curling up in a ball, avoiding going outside.  The next moment, ZOOOOOOM!  off Rosie goes chasing a rabbit and baying loudly!  Rosie loves the boys and girls at the Read To Me programs and hopes one will read to her from "Peter Rabbit" or "The Naughty Bunny."

Roxy is a Toy Fox Terrier weighing in at 9 pounds!  She may be small in stature but she's BIG in providing enjoyment to everyone she meets.  Roxy loves all the attention she gets wherever she goes!  Off the record, she thinks she was put on this earth to chase squirrels and to make the backyard into a 36 hole goft course !

 Being a 5 year old Rottweiler has its benefits! Rumor is a retired show dog and is currently active in the STARS. When she’s not busy meeting new people, Rumor enjoys playing with her sister, Secret and eating anything she can get her paws on!

Sgt. Bilko is a 2 year old male English Bulldog who loves to play. His favorite game is fetch and he likes to catch a frisbee (thrown short distances!). Sgt. Bilko likes other animals and thinks they should all play also. He loves attention and thoroughly enjoys being petted.
